Education
You have to earn a bachelor’s degree in marketing, fashion, or any related field to become a fashion marketer. A fashion marketer must have a solid understanding on the industrial side of fashion. If there is not enough formal education, experience is required for you to get the job. A fashion marketer designs different marketing strategies for their target clients. They formulate visual marketing campaigns and creative advertising ideas and pick up clothes from company designers which they believe will be favored by the target customers. They must keep the execution of marketing programs synchronized to make sure that the target customers are engaged with it. A fashion marketer moves the line of clothes to make it up to date with the latest trends in the store. Failing to do so may cause the loss of a designer.
The fashion designer must be creative have a strong fashion sense to keep up with the ever changing trends of the fashion industry. They must be able to understand what the market needs. They have to initiate a trend by promoting a particular kind of look. The fashion marketer is responsible for raising the interest of target clients in the different product lines the company offers.
Qualifications
A fashion marketer must earn a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Candidates without formal education may be considered if they have relevant experience. Fashion marketers should have a strong sense of fashion. Expertise in handling numbers is helpful for a fashion marketer in determining the profit margin generated as well as for pricing. Creativity is a must for fashion marketers. He/she must also be versatile so they can adapt to any fashion house. Teamwork is important as well for fashion marketers, as they have to coordinate with different teams to realize their goals. A fashion marketer averagely earns $33,091 – $44,836. However, some companies have different business structures. Others base their salaries on commission while others have mixed salary and commission. The actual compensation that can be received by a fashion marketer depends on what company he/she is in. If you have a great value to the fashion house, you can earn more than $50,000. However, in some cases when the service of a fashion marketer is not really vital to the company, the compensation might not go beyond $28,000.*
